Frequently Asked Questions

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a licensed form of hands-on medical care that restores balance to the body’s muscles, bones, joints, and tissues. By aligning structure and function, osteopathy supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

What types of conditions can osteopathy treat?

Osteopathy can help with musculoskeletal pain (back, neck, joints), headaches, sports injuries, posture issues, stress-related conditions, fatigue, chronic pain, and prenatal/postnatal care.

Are osteopathic physicians licensed?

Yes. Osteopathic physicians (DOs) are fully licensed medical doctors who complete medical school, licensing exams, and additional specialized training in hands-on osteopathic treatment techniques.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Your first appointment will include a comprehensive discussion of your medical history, a full-body structural assessment, and your first osteopathic treatment.

What techniques are used in osteopathic treatment?

Techniques include soft tissue release, stretching, joint mobilization, myofascial release, cranial osteopathy, visceral manipulation, and lymphatic drainage.

How long do treatments typically last?

    •    New patient visits: 90 minutes

    •    Follow-up visits: 45–60 minutes depending on the plan.

How many sessions will I need?

Some patients experience significant improvement after just 1–3 sessions. More chronic or complex cases may benefit from regular treatment spaced over several weeks or months. Many patients notice changes after the first session. Deeper, lasting improvements often develop progressively with consistent care.

Is treatment covered by insurance?

We are a private, cash-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. However, we can provide superbills you may submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
